A Flurry of Preparations

Two weeks, that's been the typical length of my overseas trips up to now.  This time my travel will span three months, which is longer by far than any previous trip. I am fortunate that at this time of my life, I have no ties to keep me from this journey... No spouse or family at home and no job. That's an enviable state of being, I know. Even so, there is a lot to think about and plan for before I leave.

Spook

 Cats, plants, household maintenance and expenses, as well as the protection from theft or damage of my property--these are the main concerns. I am blessed to have good friends who are on duty with these responsibilities. My mind is at ease.  

Angel

     Something else is different about this travel adventure. Unlike the trips to Sumatra, Bali, and the Mediterranean, detailed in my three previous blogs*, this time I travel alone and without my dear and worldly wise friend Carol. She is the best companion anyone could hope for. Now I will have to [gasp!] handle foreign money and do math and stuff! Thank goodness there are apps for that! But there are no apps for all the intrinsic and nuanced problem-solving skills Carol brings to bear in some challenging situations. She also has ready answers for my queries about flowering plants and spices in exotic food.  It will be different without her, but I am confident everything will be fine. I'm not a worrier. I'll blog about it either way. I am hopeful she will be able to meet us in Singapore for a week or two in June. Perhaps she will be there for the birth!
